Explaining Sugar Quotes and Products with Amazon Shopping
First-time users of SugarCRM are often overwhelmed with the wide array of configuration options offered by the Quoting capabilities in Sugar. Quoting in Sugar includes the use of Quotes, Product Catalog, Quoted Line Items and Revenue Line items. Each of which may or may not be needed based on how a sales organization operates. In this article, I am going to explain how it all works by using an Amazon Shopping experience.
Sugar Product Catalog – The Sugar Product Catalog is like Amazon.com in that, it stores the Products or Services that you offer. These are templates for the product and/or services available for purchase.
Sugar Revenue Line Items – Revenue Line items are like adding items to your Amazon Cart while you are shopping. You may not purchase all of them but you are building a list of items to review. In the case of SugarCRM, you are speaking with the customer and adding Services or Products as Revenue Line Items that they may potentially purchase.
Sugar Quotes – Quotes are most like your final Amazon Order. It is a total amount with a list of items that you purchased. you may have added or removed items from your Cart / Revenue Line Items, but once the customer was certain of what they wanted, you generated a quote with just the items of interest.
Sugar Quoted Line Items – Quoted Line Items are like the individually purchased items that make up your Amazon Order. These are a copy of the SugarCRM Product Catalog details with the addition of final price, taxes, shipping details etc.
These four modules cause a lot of confusion for many new and experienced CRM users. If you have any questions about setting up Sugar to sell services or products using the Sugar modules discussed, please reach out to our team.
